Riley Harding is a return customer who has been a pleasure to work with. Her latest project is this throw size quilt for her 5-year old son Grant. She saved her son’s clothes from his infant days, including t-shirts, onesies, bibs, and blankets. They were in excellent condition and had maintained such bright colors.
Planning the Quilt
When the clothes arrived, and I looked them over, I realized they all were machine embroidered with such cute designs. In our correspondence, I mentioned this to Riley and complimented her on the excellent condition the clothes were in. Riley told me Grant’s godmother had made every one of the items for him. What a great job!
Work begins
As usual, my first steps are always taking pictures of the clothes, editing them on my computer, and then using those pictures in my EQ8 software. This allows me to work with the assorted sizes to create a design that is satisfactory. Once Riley approved the design, I started the actual work.
Finished product
Working on this quilt was delightful and so much fun. I enjoyed seeing and working with the varied embroidery patterns and the nice range of colors used. I chose a royal blue fabric for the sashing which just complimented the many colors in the clothes. This completed throw size quilt for Grant is truly a treasure of memories for both him and for Riley. I hope he will enjoy it for many years.
