In January of 2023, my reliable Babylock Crown Jewel II longarm machine quit working. After several hours with a technician, it was determined encoders and computer-driven issues had failed. The machine would have to be replaced.
Next Step
Since Babylock no longer manufactures this model, nor has parts to fix the problems, I discovered a wonderful quilt shop In Rocky Mount, VA, not far from my home. Todd and Melissa Cassell with the Fork Mtn Quilting store have been wonderful to work with. They exhibit excellent customer service and are friendly and encouraging.
New Purchase
After researching several models, I decided on the Bernina Q20 with Qmatic. Todd and Melissa worked with me and placed an order the last week of February. Due to unforeseen delays, including computer and electronic parts, my machine did not arrive until 2 months later. It was delivered and installed on April 22.
I am thrilled with this machine. It operates so smoothly, creates beautiful stitches, and is nice and quiet. As is the usual case when switching brands for anything, I have had to learn a new “language” of sorts in operating this machine. With much patience on the part of Todd and Melissa, I finally felt confident in my work. I highly recommend this company and the Bernina machines.
Back in Business
Of course, my customer orders got very backed up. My customers have been very understanding and patient during this time. I am glad to say, I am just about caught back and on schedule.
