In January of 2025, Diane Martin brought me two quilt tops that her Mother Jean Richards had made. They had been stored away for awhile. They were in excellent condition. And certainly, Jean’s beautiful quilts need to be viewed, used and admired.
First Two
To create the first two quilts, Jean had used the “Whack and Stack” design. One was done in beautiful dark colors of purples, blacks, and burgundies. The second quilt was in lighter colors of beige and various shades of blue. Both quilts were so nice to work with: all the seams were straight, and blocks joined together perfectly.

Quilt Number 3
When Diane came to pick up the two completed quilts, she brought another one for me to quilt. And it is an absolute beauty. Each block with the rectangles were sewn together using pieces about 1 ½” x 4 ½”. Every seam was perfectly sewn. The workmanship is spectacular. When speaking to Diane about this quilt, she said her mother used the she had saved from other quilts. The colors are so vibrant and varied. This one was a pleasure to quilt. Thank you, Jean, for creating Jean’s beautiful quilts!
