Good Memories Quilts

Two sets of parents, in opposite ends of the state of Virginia, had the same idea of Christmas gifts for their children.  Their children participated in various activities, clubs, and adventures during their early years. T-shirts from these early years are now found in good memories quilts.

Description

Lori, from southeastern Virginia, saved most of her daughter’s t-shirts – over 70 of them!  Lori had carefully planned the layout she wanted and helped make decisions during the entire quilt-making process.  She chose shades of navy for all the sashings around the shirt blocks, and the backing.

Monica, from southwestern Virginia, had a large collection of her son’s t-shirts representing many of his interests.  She and her husband selected 20 shirts and planned the layout.  They chose to have no sashing around the shirts, and to have all blocks the same size, which created a lovely quilt.  A small square in each corner of the border was made from the son’s favorite baby quilt – a very nice touch to the quilt.

Final Results

I think both recipients will find many wonderful memories in their quilts and will always treasure their good memories quilts.

And as an added note: These are great examples of various styles which can be used in making beautiful t-shirt quilts.
