Melissa, a friend, requested a memory quilt using her father’s shirts. She brought me 20 cotton dress shirts that Bill, her father wore. Bill’s memory quilt would develop into a wonderful treasured item.
Work begins
After searching for just the right pattern, Melissa chose a basic half-square triangle style. The colorful fabrics of the shirts would make this style exceptional. My first step was to cut the shirts apart. I had designed the quilt on my computer, and knew how many triangles I needed. The cutting began.
The Next Steps
My next step was to lay out the squares, positioning and repositioning them until just the right arrangement appeared. I then pieced them together, added the batting, and backing and quilted it all together.
The quilt is complete
The quilting was done on my longarm quilting machine. Bill’s memory quilt was all complete and special. Melisa and her family will be sure to enjoy this treasure for many years to come.
