Returning customer Deb Lebo is a talented quilter who creates wonderful quilts of assorted designs and colors. She thoroughly enjoys what she does as is shown in this most recent Deb’s lilac quilt.
Most quilts that Deb makes are destined for gifts to family and friends, who are so fortunate to receive such gorgeous creations. However, this time Deb made this quilt to keep and use in her home. “Boston Commons” (the name of the quilt pattern), is a difficult and tedious quilt, made with intricate directions and a considerable number of small pieces. A quilter must be very precise in putting the pieces together – and Deb is very exact in her work.
The colors she chose are lovely light and dark lilacs, a touch of green, and white. Due to the complexity and beauty of the quilt, we decided the final quilting needed to be something simple to complement the design. Using an almost invisible white thread, I followed the stitch lines of each seam. This type of quilting, called “stitch in the ditch” is also tedious and time-consuming.
The finished product is well worth the time and effort needed to make this beautiful quilt. I know she will treasure it for years to come. She sent me a picture of Deb’s lilac quilt, and it does look great.
