Two years ago, I decided I needed a new quilt for my bedroom. Two cross-stitched pictures on the wall made by my sister Susan had just the colors I wanted to feature. The planning process began for my own new quilt.

Preplanning stage
Knowing the colors needed, I began searching for fabrics to use. On each of my trips to my favorite quilt shop Fork Mtn Quilting in Rocky Mount, VA, I often found a special fabric or two or three that I loved. As the year passed, I soon had all the fabrics needed, including a beautiful backing.

Designing stage
Star blocks became the theme of my quilt. Using my AccuQuilt Go Big die cutter and the dies I owned, I decided on 7 blocks to use. Following the directions for each block, I assigned fabric choices to the various blocks. Having the AccuQuilt Go Big machine to do the cutting made the work go so smoothly.
Work accomplished
Not wanting to neglect my customer quilts, I did not begin work on my quilt until I was given a surgery-imposed time-off from quilting. My surgeon approved me sitting at the sewing machine, so in late October I began the delightful process of piecing this quilt. I am so pleased with the final product.

Do any of you remember the furniture doilies that our mothers and grandmothers crocheted? In looking at my left-over fabrics from my own new quilt, I made runners to use on the larger furniture pieces. These add nice color to the room, and they also save time on the dreaded chore of dusting!

Both the quilt and runners turned out beautiful! You were very creative to design and finish these.
